Jaap is a set of hymns uttered by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Sikh Guru, also known as the Tenth Nanak. It is one of the Five Banis recited by most practicing Sikhs every morning. Additionally, it is recited by the Panj Pyare during the Amrit Sanchaar ceremony, a Sikh initiation ritual for admission into the Khalsa Brotherhood. Jaap holds the position of being the second bani in the daily morning prayer routine of Sikhs and is considered to have a similar significance in the Dasam Granth as Japji Sahib does in the Guru Granth Sahib.
